Virtual Riding
As of 2020, The William Raveis Bike + Ride will be offering a virtual option to all participants who can’t be in attendance on the day of the event. We encourage all people to download the Strava app and join the William Raveis Ride + Walk club to interact with the community.

What is Strava?
Strava is an app that tracks human exercise while incorporating social network features. It is primarily used for cycling and running using GPS data. This year, we will have a club on Strava where participants will be able to post their rides and walks and interact with the William Raveis Ride + Walk Community.

Do I need to check in if I’m already registered?
YES!  All participants must check in before riding or walking at the event. We must verify that you are registered to participate.

Can I check in for my entire team?
No, each individual is responsible for his/her own fundraising and must personally sign the waiver. Each participant must individually check in.

Can I bring additional donations with me?
YES! The more donations we receive; the more cancer research we are able to fund!

Can kids participate?
Children starting at the age of 11 years old can participate in the 5k walk and in the 12-Mile bike ride. For kids ages 11-17 there is a $25 registration fee and the fundraising minimum will be $25. The fundraising minimum is due by October 31st.

What happens if I have not hit my fundraising minimum yet?
When you registered on the website, you committed to raising $250 by October 31st. You can continue fundraising up until this point. If by October 31st you have not yet reached your minimum, the credit card we have on file will be charged the difference.

Can people register on site?
Yes! We encourage people to come the day of the event and register to participate. The walk up registration fee is $25 and you will still need to commit to the fundraising minimum by October 31st.

I want to do a different distance than the one I signed up for. Can I switch?
Yes. When you arrive for check in on the day of the event, tell the volunteer checking you in know you would like to make a change.

Are strollers permitted on the walk course?
Strollers are permitted; however, please be advised that some portions of the walk route are not particularly conducive to strollers. You will be on and off sidewalks, and in some spots will walk on the grass alongside the road. Due to safety concerns, double-wide strollers are not permitted.

Are dogs permitted on the walk course?
Unfortunately, Calf Pasture put in a new restriction in 2018 that does not allow dogs inside the park.

Can I take my child on the bike ride in a child seat or trailer?
No, due to safety concerns. Also, tandem bikes are only permitted with two registered participants riding, each of whom have completed their fundraising obligations.

My family isn't participating in the Ride + Walk. Can they join me for the festival and lunch?
Music and lunch are free for all registered riders, walkers and volunteers. All registrants will receive a bracelet at registration that verifies their participation in the event. Family and friends of participants that are at the Ride + Walk will also need a bracelet. They can get a bracelet at the Donations tent by making a suggested minimum donation of $25 per person to the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

What happens if it rains?
The event goes on, rain or shine! In the event of severe weather (such as electrical storms and hurricanes), a portion of the event may be cancelled, but otherwise the event goes on. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

It turns out I won't be able to attend. Can I get a refund or have some else ride or walk in my place?
Registrations are non-transferable. If you are unable to participate, your registration fee will become a fully tax-deductible contribution to cancer research. Any donations received prior to this point are non-refundable and you will still be responsible for the fundraising minimum.
